Ms Pireh Pirzada
I am a PhD student at SACHI supervised by Dr. David Harris-Birtill and Adriana Wilde. My research focuses on smart homes to support health and well-being of elderly people living alone, whilst providing a safe and secure environment by monitoring their activities of daily life. I am particularly interested in applying machine learning techniques to the data collected from smart homes in order to enabe systems to observe and understand patterns and identify anomalies and to identify multiple individuals in a home and recognize activities. Along with that I am also interested in the ethical implications of such technology and in the architecture of a smart home to enable accurate and efficient data collection, and in system visualization to improve the interaction between the system and families/care takers.
