Iain Carson

Having completed his MSc in Computer Science here in St Andrews, Iain has stayed on to undertake a PhD investigating how sensory substitution may be used as an interaction principle for abstract data.

His work explores the evaluation and de-convolution of the impact of interface format, algorithms and user training/exposure on the usability of sensory substitution devices, to help focus and drive the development of new devices for abstract data connections in the future.

When he’s not in the lab, Iain enjoys singing, kayaking, photography, and exploring the Scottish highlands.
